Morning and a quick learning activity.

This morning I had some alone time, and enjoyed a nice hot cup of tea. Usually if I wake early, and everyone else is sleeping I will take advantage of getting things in order around the house. Sometimes I may even catch up on a few shows that I've recorded on our dvr. Well since we haven't been watching much of anything lately on tv, I decided to enjoy a nice cup of tea.  I figured a nice cup of tea would be nice while reading the Fine cooking magazine.  I have to figure out what to make for dinner tonight. We usually have a plan and a menu for the week, and of course todays plan for dinner is Beef/broccoli with rice.  Once my daughter was up, we enjoyed a nice breakfast, and she of course wanted to give me a million kisses, with her milk covered lips- ha ha life with a toddler, I love it.  I took an old container we were no longer using, and cut three shapes into the lid. Closed it back up, and grabbed a few of my daughters pom poms. You can buy them from your local
Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too. ~ Will Smith -I must say I agree with this quote 100%. I have had to learn to let go and forgive so many people that have hurt me in my past. If you hold onto to hate in your heart it will consume you. Sometimes we have to take a step back and think to ourselves, what exactly has this person gone through or /how was their upbringing? Life happens fast, so we must remember to let things go, take time to clear our thoughts, always tell your loved ones that you love them, and remember to never hold hate in your heart.

Getting creative! Learning about shapes :)

Today we are learning about shapes in a fun creative way! I love Pinterest, and I'm always on there looking for fun new creative ways to teach my daughter. A while back I came across a Pinterest pin on using popsicle sticks to create shapes.  I loved the idea of using popsicle sticks. So today since my daughter is feeling a little better I decided to take some popsicle sticks and create just a few shapes. Right now we are learning about shapes, and numbers. This really helped teach her in a fun creative way. I only had a few popsicle sticks available and they were the smaller ones. I’m thinking next time I go to the craft store I will   probably pick up some thicker popsicle sticks.
We're home with a sick toddler! Our daughter has recently come down with a stomach bug, and I'm sure hoping it passes soon. This weekend has been a long one. She has lost her appetite, and I've been trying to give her liquids, which she has refused from time to time. Yesterday we spent the day snuggling, and reading. Today we made some fresh squeezed orange juice for our daughter, and what do you know...she loved it. I'm so happy she did. We are under some winter advisory weather here in Colorado. (So we have been taking it easy this weekend.)          It was pretty quiet in our house....and we find our daughter in her room with her stickers....        She placed them all over her big stuffed animal, dog. ha ha.

Happy Friday

Yippy it's Friday! :) It's been a lovely day with my little sweetheart. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.     Dress up time!     Fun with Chalk       Book of the day (Meg's Pet-Tag Junior-short vowels E)

"Mommy read to me"

Last night was a cold, snowy night here in Colorado. Our daughter is in love with books. When she was still in my tummy my husband and I would read to her all the time. She is going on to two in April, and she is always on the go searching for a new book. (I love it). Last night we ended the night reading a few books. I absolutely cherish these moments. What book does your little one enjoy reading?

Coffee, journaling and of course a craft! :)

“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those  we love, they will bloom like flowers.” -Thich Nhat Hanh It's been such a lovely morning with my little love. This morning I was able to have a nice cup of coffee and sit and write in my daughters journal.  When we arrived home from the hospital with our daughter, I thought it would be nice to start a journal for her. In this journal I write about how much she amazes us, and how she is constantly growing and changing each day. I hope that when she's older she can look back and see how much she has changed our lives for the better. In this journal I remind her that she is loved, beautiful, creative, and one of a kind. This morning I thought it would be nice to do a craft with my daughter. We decided since I was making muffins for breakfast to use the left over baking cups to create flowers. So what you would need if you are thinking of making this is: (a few baking cu

Stop and listen...

A song came on I hadn't heard in a while, and so I stopped and listened to the lyrics. It's amazing how a song can speak to your heart, or how someone can relate to a song due to something currently going on in their life.    Rob Thomas "Little Wonders" Let it go, Let it roll right off your shoulder Don't you know The hardest part is over Let it in, Let your clarity define you In the end We will only just remember how it feels Our lives are made In these small hours These little wonders, These twists & turns of fate Time falls away, But these small hours, These small hours still remain

I loved it!- Baby food making :)

I absolutely enjoyed making our daughters baby food when she was just a tiny little baby. We made everything from pureed apples, squash, asparagus, peas, asian pear, carrots and much more! We used the baby brezza, and we loved it. (It steams, purees, and blends all in one, with one press of a button). I'm sure I will do this for our next baby, it was something I really enjoyed.

As seasons change...

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”-Ashley Smith Fresh air, nature walks, park play dates...I can't wait for spring to get here! We have been having some warm weather here in Colorado, and I must say it seems as though everyone is enjoying it. I’m looking forward to nature walks with our daughter, and of course gardening. I’ve been asked which season I enjoy the most. I think I would have to say autumn. I love watching leaves fall from the trees, and the beautiful colors they turn. Everyone seems to pull out their scarves, and knitted sweaters. And we love sitting in coffee shops. So what's your favorite season? Even though autumn is one of my favorite seasons, I can't wait for spring to get here. Beautiful flowers, humming birds usually gather around my flowerbed, and I enjoy openi

Paper, glitter & paint -made with love :)

Love is in the air! My daughter has given me hugs and kisses most of the morning...and I just love it. :) We started the morning off early. This morning my daughter wanted me to read a book called Puppy Love to her. I figured she was getting in the Valentine mood. :) It's a short, sweet book with cute puppy pictures. This morning after breakfast we made two Valentine cards for Daddy. We used glitter, paint, and a few stickers. Craft time is always such fun in our home.

That embarrassing moment....flashback

A friend and I were talking about our most embarrassing moments. Suddenly a list of moments came to mind, but of course there is always just one that sticks out in your mind. For me, this moment involved me wearing heels on a day I figured the snow had melted so there was no way I was going to have an accident. (WRONG) Oh my! I was on my way to the post office to send my deployed husband one of many boxes I had put together. I usually stacked boxes on top of one another praying I would make it to the door without any of the boxes falling. Well on my way into the post office, I turn to make sure I locked the car door, and then continued walking. (I swear what happened next was in slow motion) I slipped with the box in my arms; trying to maintain my balance....it was too late! My goodness talk about total embarrassment!  My pants were wet, and a heel broke, and of course someone was sitting in the car beside me watching. I ended up getting up, and continued on my way to the

Be creative! :)

My daughter loves doing crafts! Today at the library the kids did a dragon craft , which was inspired by a book about Chinese new year.  “ Creativity is contagious , pass it on ” – Albert Einstein

lovely morning

The smell of coffee fills the room, the sound of bacon sizzling on the stovetop, and my daughter's gentle morning hug. I love weekends with my family. (I'm so thankful to wake to such a lovely morning in our home). “Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”-Ashley Smith

Coffee, story time, & a little more!

We started the morning with a trip to our local Barnes and nobles bookstore (they were having a special valentine book, and craft for the kiddos) Our daughter who is going onto two this year absolutely loves doing anything that involves coloring or painting. They read a book, and the children colored a picture, and had a snack. My husband and I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee from Starbucks. Oh how I love weekends spent with my family. I've been doing a few Valentine crafts with our daughter, and she recently painted and glued on a few hearts on some stock paper. I love how creative she is, and I always praise her for what she does. She's growing so fast, and there are times I just stare at her, and I think to myself,- What will she want to be when she grows up, what goes on in her mind when she's playing/or just before she falls asleep. I am so in love with this little girl. She has changed our life in a way I never imagined. All in all today was a good day. I’m thankful

Spot the dog, and a valentine craft

Our daughter loves Spot the dog! Today I decided to take her to Barnes and Noble for story time, and to greet spot. Yes that's right, spot showed up and surprised the kids. (They all just loved it) After, they had a snack and did a craft. I also stopped by our local craft store and picked up a few valentine crafts. Today my daughter decorated some valentine turtles, she really enjoyed that. We really enjoy doing crafts together. I can’t wait to see what we end up doing this weekend. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
We recently started doing the letter of the day with our daughter. In the past I have worked on the word of the day and also we have randomly picked a letter of the day out of a cup. This time around I figured it would be nice to go through the alphabet with her. We have gone through A-H. Today the letter is I. My daughter loves painting, so what I did was trace out the letter I and allowed her to paint it, she loved it. Few words we came across today were igloo, iguana, ice, ice cream, and a few others. It’s fun seeing what you can find around the house using the letter of the day. "To teach is to learn twice." -- Joseph Joubert

Oh what a night!

Good morning! It's a cold day here in Colorado. In our home this is breaking news...our daughter has mastered climbing out of her crib! I wasn't sure whether to cry or pull my hair out. (The first time it happened, I panicked like no other.) It's time that we move her to a toddler bed. It's been two nights now that we have been getting to bed late, and last night was a struggle. There are times I wish I could sleep like our pug. (He can fall asleep almost anywhere, he soaks up the sun, and has no worries in the world.

You live, you learn....

-As a first time mother I've learned that no matter how many times you tell your child "I love you", it never grows old, that hugs warm the soul, and that hearing my daughter's laughter through out our house can truly brighten my entire day. I've learned that mommy gives the best kisses when it comes down to boo boo's. And that singing silly songs makes my daughter's day. I'm constantly growing as a mother, and everyday my husband and I fall more and more in love with our daughter. :) -Many people will have their own opinions on how to parent. -Whether you decide to breastfeed (which I did) or to formula feed, people will still stand there and point fingers.(The way I feel is it's your baby and ultimately in the end it's up to you, no need to sit back and judge someone on what they decide to do.) -Everyone has their own opinions on vaccines, and it should stay that way. (If you as the parent want to space out your child's vaccines/or y

Lovely day...and a great workout!

So today has turned out to be a wonderful day. I was able to get a lot done. (Including my workout) Today I did two 20 minute videos from the firm. I love their dvds, as I mentioned before in my blog I recently bought the Firm Express. Each video is 20 minutes long. And you can combine videos, and make them longer (which I usually do) so tonight I did the Ignite Cardio, and combined that with the Accelerate Sculpt. (After my workout I felt great!!) I love that feeling after a great workout! :)

Yes a fish..

Meet Spotty... Over the weekend we went out and purchased a fish. Our daughter has been fascinated with fishes, and ever since her visit with her grandma (my mom) in Arizona, she has gone around the house saying "fishes." We took her to the Denver aquarium, which she absolutely loved. (http://www.aquariumrestaurants.com/downtownaquariumdenver/default.asp).So over the weekend we decided to get our daughter a fish, and named him Spotty. :) She absolutely adores her new fish. :)
