Weekend love-Autumn lighting, birthday wishes, and family.

O' pumpkin pie, your time has come 'round again
and I am autumnrifically happy! ~Terri Guillemets

Autumn- the warm sun, the cool gentle breeze, and all the beautiful changing fall colors. I'm in love with all the beauty around us. Mornings are spent enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee with my husband.
This weekend we all had a little date with nature. We set out and found a beautiful spot in the springs where we enjoyed, and took some family pictures. We enjoyed the calming sounds of the creek and the lighting was beautiful.  Lately it's been so cool out. I've been enjoying hanging out clothes, and opening up a few windows. I normally use our dryer to dry our clothes, but with this weather, it's been great for hanging laundry out. I continue to close windows once the sun goes down. It's still a bit chilly at nights to keep windows open. I've been enjoying my pumpkin spice candle during the evenings.
This weekend I celebrated another year of becoming young. Of course I was spoiled with kisses and hugs from my love ones, and showered with sweet gifts. I am extremely thankful to see another year, and spend it with my family and friends.  I indulged in a few sweet treats, and delicious desserts. My husband made a delicious birthday breakfast, and dinner for us all to enjoy. Later my husband and I enjoyed a nice glass of wine, while we talked about our future, and more.
I also did a little shopping at the craft store and picked up an art book with different inspirations, and creations that I can do with my daughter. We absolutely love being creative, and creating art in our home.  It's been a beautiful weekend spent with my family. How did you spend your weekend? I'd love you hear if you went on any adventures. :)

Sail away{Water play-floating boats}

Simple, fun, and hands on play. Today I created these simple boats for floating.
For this all you need-
-Plastic cup (cut top portion of cup off)
-Tape or decorative washi tape
It's so easy to put together, and my daughter absolutely loved watching them float.
We took a bin and  filled it with water. I added one drop of blue food coloring, and there you go sail away  and visit a few sea creatures.
We had a blast!

Exploring/creating art {Using items around the house}

Exploring/creating art-using items around the house.
This was so much fun, very hands on. My daughter really enjoyed the different textures, and shapes.
Materials we used:
Plastic fork
 paper towel roll
 Clothespins/with pom poms
Plastic bottle top
Craft stick
 During our art time I went over how each item created a different design.

Weekend love {Welcome Autumn}

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
― Lauren DeStefano, Wither
Well hello sweet Autumn, I'm so thrilled  you have arrived. It's been a little on the chilly side late night, and early mornings. The air is crisp, the smell of rain lingers, and I think I'm in love with having cooler days. This weekend we enjoyed chasing our daughter around, her laugh is contagious-I absolutely love her sweet, and gentle giggle. She's feeling so much better, and so we have been enjoying having her back to her old self. (Thank you for all your kind words while my daughter was recovering from a pretty nasty cold). I appreciate it so much! I finally got around to taking out some of my Fall decorations. I haven't got around to putting all of them up, but I figure I will soon.  Lately I've been burning a few candles-Apple spice, and warm pumpkin. I love how it fills  the house each evening, I just feel so at home.
We ended the weekend with taking our daughter to two parks. It was nice to get out and enjoy some play time, and fresh air. We all had a great time. After the park we headed home and my husband made us some homemade chicken potpies. It was perfect, especially with the rainy weather. We ended our night with my husband singing to our daughter (Disney's Princess tea party sing-a-long) while we enjoyed some baked pumpkin cookies. It was a perfect end to a beautiful weekend.

The simple things- An art filled morning

This morning since our daughter was feeling much better, we decided to have an art filled morning.
It was wonderful!
It's these simple moments that I cherish, and enjoy to the fullest. Our daughter enjoys painting, and I love watching her create such beautiful art. How did you spend your morning today? :)

Our weekend {Cozy indoors}

It's been raining all weekend. Of course with all this rain this just means more flooding.  We have been fortunate and have not experienced much flooding in our area. (I do know the creek near by had a flood warning for a few hours.)  Since it's been raining, and our little one is still sick we decided to stay indoors over the weekend. (I may have sneaked outside a few times) :)
Indoors it's been warm and cozy. Lately the air has been cooler, and windows haven't really been opened. It's strange because it's cool enough for it, but then our house seems to get a little too chilly.
On Saturday we enjoyed some soup. I prepared Beef soup with Chayote/Caldo de Res con Chayote. A friend had mentioned this soup, and with our little one being sick, I wanted to try a new recipe. I actually looked up a few different recipes for this soup.  We of course added to a few of our own spices to the soup. In the end it was delicious.
With this rainy weather, I was in the mood to do some baking. We had extra apples  stored away in the refrigerator, so I figured we could use them. I made us an apple pie. It was perfect with the weather.  The sun came out for a few, and so I made a pitcher of sun tea. Normally I put it out on our back porch, this time I just put it on the kitchen windowsill.
Since our daughter has been sick, she enjoys laying out in the living room bundled up with her dolls. She hasn't had much energy for  many activities. She has been asking us for warm milk, with vanilla. She loves how my husband makes it for her. Also with her being sick, she has been sneaking in our room in the middle of the night. She makes her way between us, and we all end up not getting enough sleep. Today she seems to have been feeling a little better.
Sunday morning, my husband made us some pumpkin pancakes with silly faces on them. (He used cinnamon chips to create the faces). It sure did put a smile on all of our faces. :)
How did you spend your weekend?
Until next time, thank you so much for stopping by.

Our week.

This week definitely feels like Fall has arrived here in Colorado. I know it hasn't, but the rain, and cool days and nights sure have me thinking otherwise. I guess you can say I'm a little impatient for the arrival of Fall. :)
I've been spending the week looking after our sick little one. She's come down with the sniffles, and sore throat. (She's even losing her sweet little voice). I've been using one of our humidifiers, and running steam showers. She likes to sit in our bathroom while I shower, while the steam clears her little nose.
In the midst of all of this, somehow she still finds the energy to play and do some hands on crafts.  I've been so busy this week, I think I was able to get an hour on one of the days to enjoy a cup of coffee, and some breakfast. When our little one is sick, she enjoys snuggling, and having books read to her. I can honestly say snuggling, and reading to her is one of my favorite times. I remember when she was so tiny, and after nursing her she would snuggle up right on my chest and fall asleep. Such a sweet little thing.
A few of my flowers have started to shrivel, and their colors are slowly fading. We still have our regular garden visitors. I think my favorite is the hummingbird who spends most of the morning saying hello to each flower. My vegetable garden still has plenty of tomatoes, and peppers. My daughter normally goes out with me to pick them, but I've been tending to my garden alone since she has not been feeling her best.
Nights have been rainy, and cold. We haven't sat out much on the porch. Mosquitos have been out like crazy, so we have been enjoying our evening inside.  This week I cooked up some chicken soup in the crockpot, and my daughter only wanted carrots and broth. I'm certain the broth soothed her throat.  I'm hoping by the weekend our daughter is feeling better.
