Autumn lighting, Birthday wishes and family.

O' pumpkin pie, your time has come 'round again and I am autumnrifically happy! ~Terri Guillemets                         Autumn- the warm sun, the cool gentle breeze, and all the beautiful changing fall colors. I'm in love with all the beauty around us. Mornings are spent enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee with my husband. This weekend we all had a little date with nature. We set out and found a beautiful spot in the springs where we enjoyed, ourselves and took some family pictures. We enjoyed the calming sounds of the creek and the lighting was beautiful.  Lately, it's been so cool out. I've been enjoying hanging out clothes and opening up a few windows. I normally use our dryer to dry our clothes, but with this weather, it's been great for hanging laundry out. I continue to close windows once the sun goes down. It's still a bit chilly at night to keep windows open. I've been enjoying my pumpkin spi

Sail away. Water play with floating boats

Simple, fun, and hands-on play. Today I created these simple boats for floating. For this all you need- -Plastic cup (cut the top portion of the cup off) -Straws -Tape or decorative washi tape It's so easy to put together, and my daughter absolutely loved watching them float. We took a bin and filled it with water. I added one drop of blue food coloring, and there you go sail away and visit a few sea creatures. We had a blast! Enjoy~

Exploring and creating art. Using items around the house

Exploring/creating art-using items around the house. This was so much fun, and very hands-on. My daughter really enjoyed the different textures and shapes. Materials we used: -Plastic fork  -Paper towel roll  -Flowers  -Clothespins/with pom poms -Plastic bottle top -Straws -Craft stick  Explore and create art using different designs with each material.  During our art time, I went over how each item created a different design. Welcome Autumn

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” ― Lauren DeStefano, Wither Well hello, sweet Autumn, I'm so thrilled you have arrived. It's been a little on the chilly side late at night, and early morning. The air is crisp, the smell of rain lingers, and I think I'm in love with having cooler days. This weekend we enjoyed chasing our daughter around, her laugh is contagious-I absolutely love her sweet, and gentle giggle. She's feeling so much better, and so we have been enjoying having her back to her old self. (Thank you for all your kind words while my daughter was recovering from a pretty nasty cold). I appreciate it so much! I finally got around to taking out some of my Fall decorations. I haven't got around to putting all of them up, but I figure I will soon.  Lately, I've been burning a few candles-Apple spice

The simple things- An art filled morning

This morning since our daughter was feeling much better, we decided to have an art filled morning. It was wonderful! It's these simple moments that I cherish, and enjoy to the fullest. Our daughter enjoys painting, and I love watching her create such beautiful art. How did you spend your morning today? :)   Color Inspiration     “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary” Pablo Picasso

Staying Indoors. A Cozy Time

It's been raining all weekend. With all this rain this just means more flooding.  We have been fortunate and have not experienced much flooding in our area. (I do know the creek nearby had a flood warning for a few hours.)  Since it's been raining, and our little one is still sick we decided to stay indoors over the weekend. (I may have sneaked outside a few times) :) Indoors it's been warm and cozy. Lately, the air has been cooler, and windows haven't really been opened. It's strange because it's cool enough for it, but then our house seems to get a little too chilly.   On Saturday we enjoyed some soup. I prepared Beef soup with Chayote/ Caldo de Res con Chayote. A friend had mentioned this soup, and with our little one being sick, I wanted to try a new recipe. I actually looked up a few different recipes for this soup.  We of course added a few of our own spices to the soup. In the end, it was deliciou

Our week.

This week definitely feels like Fall has arrived here in Colorado. I know it hasn't, but the rain, and cool days and nights sure have me thinking otherwise. I guess you can say I'm a little impatient for the arrival of Fall. :)   I've been spending the week looking after our sick little one. She's come down with sniffles, and sore throat. (She's even losing her sweet little voice). I've been using one of our humidifiers, and running steam showers. She likes to sit in our bathroom while I shower, while the steam clears her little nose.   In the midst of all of this, somehow she still finds the energy to play and do some hands on crafts.  I've been so busy this week, I think I was able to get an hour on one of the days to enjoy a cup of coffee, and some breakfast. When our little one is sick, she enjoys snuggling, and having books read to her. I can honestly say snuggling, and reading to her is one of my favorite times. I remember when she was so
