Simple ways to take care of yourself for when you are sick.

It's important to take care of your body when you're feeling under the weather. Here are some tips to help you recover: - Drink plenty of liquids, such as water, ginger tea, peppermint tea, lemon tea, or infused water/tea. Staying hydrated is essential. - Boost your immune system by consuming foods that are rich in nutrients. Vitamin C is particularly helpful, so try juicing fruits and vegetables. - Prepare a warm bath with Epsom salt and soak in it to relieve sore, achy muscles and relax. - Get some sunshine and fresh air by sitting outside for a few minutes. Breathe in the fresh air and soak up the sun's rays. - Prepare some soup, such as noodle soup with diced vegetables. Add some broth, carrots, celery, noodles, a can of diced tomatoes, garlic powder, paprika, and a dash of salt. - Rest your body by allowing yourself to just rest. Close your eyes and rest in bed, on the sofa, or in a hammock. This will help you recover from your cold. - Listen to your favorite ...

Slowing down..

“Sometimes our stop-doing list needs to be bigger than our to-do list.”  ―  Patti Digh It has been a bit hectic around here. I think we're in need of rest. Our days seem long and hectic. Maybe soon... things will start slowing down. This week: -We continued our lessons. Reading lessons are slowing down. - Right now our oldest daughter is sick. Just a common cold. But she is definitely in need of rest. -Warm baths, vapor rub, and warm drinks. - This seems to be helping out some. I've washed and sanitized things around our house.  - So far little one, daddy and I are cold-free. I'm sure it will sneak up on me when I least expect it. We're still working on lessons and this week she's learning about ladybugs. Once she is feeling better, we'll head out and go on an outdoor adventure.  Our littlest one has been fussy. - Maybe she's teething?! I haven't seen or felt any teeth that may be coming in. She...

Sick days.

Starting last Sunday... Our daughter came down with a cold. -Sneezing, coughing, stuffy nose, and a sore throat. -Of course, I managed to avoid getting sick all the way up until Tuesday. My body has definitely felt the impact of this cold. I've been feeling weak and I haven't had much energy. Between taking care of my daughter and caring for myself it's been a little hectic. I've been cooking soups. I have also made sure that we all stay well hydrated. My husband has been very helpful; he actually took a sick day to care for both my daughter and me. I was able to catch up on some sleep and feel somewhat refreshed. Our daughter wants a lot of cuddles and kisses. -Of course, she can have as many as she wants! I know one day she will grow out of this stage. So for now I cherish these moments that she wants to be close to both her father and me.  I've fallen behind on blogging. - I'm sure you all understand how it is to have sick days. I have man...
We're home with a sick toddler! Our daughter has recently come down with a stomach bug, and I'm sure hoping it passes soon. This weekend has been a long one. She has lost her appetite, and I've been trying to give her liquids, which she has refused from time to time. Yesterday we spent the day snuggling, and reading. Today we made some fresh squeezed orange juice for our daughter, and what do you know...she loved it. I'm so happy she did. We are under some winter advisory weather here in Colorado. (So we have been taking it easy this weekend.)          It was pretty quiet in our house....and we find our daughter in her room with her stickers....        She placed them all over her big stuffed animal, dog. ha ha.                               ...
