Little hands. Making Green Goo

Our daughter absolutely loves getting hands-on and trying out new things. We recently made ourselves some green goo. - Boy was it messy and tons of fun. What you need to make your goo: 1/2 cup of water 1 cup of cornstarch Food coloring (color of your choice) 1 bowl It's pretty simple, add your cornstarch to your bowl and then slowly pour your water into the bowl. Add a few drops of food coloring- using your hands mix the mixture together.- This part is tons of fun.- Get into it! Our daughter allowed the mixture to go between her fingers. She squished it together and also rubbed it between her fingers. Of course, don't forget to ask your little one a few questions about the mixture. Questions asked: What will happen when the cornstarch is added to the water? Will it thicken up? Become solid? Is the mixture thick, gooey, or slippery? Have fun!

Interactive Reading: The Snowy Day, written by Ezra Jack Keats

Today the book chosen by my two-year-old was The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. When I read her stories we tend to interact whether it's through puppets, drawings, or even painting. (Sometimes even short plays) She seems to really enjoy the interaction. Today we did some interaction using her Magnetic Easel board. If you would like to create your own interactive story here is what you will need. Materials I used for this simple activity were: Craft paper Crayons Pieces of magnetic tape scissors laminate sheet We created the little boy Peter, a snowman, a few buildings with snow packed on the roofs, snowballs, and snow hills.  It was so much fun! My daughter was Peter throughout the story, and she even made him throw a few snowballs. We did some counting, and color identification, and made peter walk up a few snow hills.  Pin For Later

Maraca fun.

I've seen so many creative ways to make maracas, and I thought this one was great! We have two sets of store-bought maracas. I  wanted something my daughter could make, and later have fun with.  My daughter took a few different sharpies and created art on the plastic eggs. Once she was done, we filled them up with macaroni noodles. (Which I forgot to mention as one of the things needed in the picture above)  Below you can view the video we played and danced to. We had a lovely time. Have fun shaking your maracas!!!!! Pin for later

Learning and Playtime.

Outdoor Play Cooking We had so much fun today! We did some outdoor play cooking. For this, we used a few spaghetti noodles, rice, and a few herbs. My daughter enjoyed combining everything and stirring it all up. I used some empty toothpick containers as the salt and pepper shakers. It was so fun and very hands-on. Play-Doh Cafe

Today at Play-Doh cafe, we grilled up some hot dogs, baked a delicious pizza, and found a one-of-a-kind recipe for mom's homemade meatballs to add to our Italian seasoned spaghetti. We served up root beer floats and  Italian cream sodas. Our pug dined in and when he was finished he left us a very nice tip! Oh, what fun we had with our pretend play. Pin for later

Craft time.-Butterfly & Bumblebee

Saturday night, my daughter and I had so much fun working on this craft. Butterfly, and bumblebee- using toilet paper rolls! For this craft you will need: -Craft paper -Scissors -glue stick -markers/crayons -toilet paper roll Start off with  taking your tp roll, apply glue over it, and apply your craft paper around the tp roll. Make sure to cover the entire roll. Now once that part is done just use your imagination and creativity. I actually cut a few strips and used them on the bumblebee's body. You can create wings, and whatever you would like to see on your creations. We really enjoyed this fun and easy craft. Once we were all done my daughter chased our pug around with the bumblebee! :) Enjoy!  Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. ~ Mary Lou Cook

Make your own Mini Felt board

We absolutely love doing crafts in our home. I'm always on the look out for new crafts to do with my daughter. I want to keep her busy, and she's so into exploring, and trying new things. Today in the morning we headed off to the library. Every Tuesday they have Story time, with a craft. The librarian reads a few books, and after all the children participate in making a craft. (Parents are usually hands on with the craft as well) Today we made mini Felt boards with cut out shapes.  Materials needed for this project: Cardboard (Cut into a medium sized square) Glue Stick Felt (any color you choose for your background) Scissors Cut  your cardboard into a square shape. After cut some felt, and glue it on your board.  Once you are all done with that you can make some shapes using your left over felt. (Whatever shapes you decided on making, it's all up to you) Once your done your toddler will enjoy placing the felt shapes on the board. Pretty simple, and toddler ...
