Peaceful moment.

This peaceful moment took place in September 2015. It was a quiet evening and I took some time to work on an adult coloring sheet. Sometimes we just need to quiet our minds and do something we enjoy. A nice cup of tea, coloring pencils, and a creative coloring sheet. -Indeed, it was a very peaceful moment. *** Each Thursday I will be posting a peaceful moment. I would love to hear what your peaceful moment has been during the week or a peaceful memory from the past. Leave your comment below or on Google+.

Color Changing Carnations.

I remember discussing color-changing celery with my husband. He mentioned experimenting with that when he was in school. I know at some point we all have.  For this experiment we used carnations.  Take three measuring cups and fill them with water. Our daughter then put a few drops of food coloring.-At this point she was excited and ready to add in the carnations.  We allowed them to sit in the food coloring overnight. In the morning we noticed the tips of each flower had changed. Currently, they are sitting in the food coloring. I'm hoping that by this evening we will see more change in color. Have you tried this with your children? If so, how did they react to the color change? Our daughter had a few questions about the color. She specifically wanted to know how it happens.  I figured after exploring creepy crawlers we could enjoy this simple hands-on experiment.  **Update- One carnation changed entirely in color.- Going from white...

Learning colors, friendly monsters..and water painting

We had such a busy and fun morning. We have been working on shapes, numbers and colors. Today we did an activity on colors. Using a paper plate, construction paper cut them into squares, and glue them onto the paper plate. I did the same for the clothespins. I made sure to write out each color above each square on the plate. My daughter loved it. We have done something similar to this but with shapes.  Onto our friendly monsters... A few months back we came across this cute book called, "So many monsters". We picked this cute book up at Target in the dollar section. It's about friendly monsters. Monsters who enjoy tea, and those who dress nice :) Our daughter loves when we  read this book to her. She really  likes when daddy changes his voice, and does a silly monster voice. :) With this book we made some popsicle stick monsters. We also enjoyed some water painting. Using food coloring and water. I taped up some ea...

Fun with popsicle sticks...and more!

Since my daughter and I didn't make it out to the library, we did our own craft, and story time. (Which in my opinion is the best) :) Today we made popsicle stick frames, with a message. It was so much fun. For this craft the materials you need are: -Popsicle sticks -Hot glue gun -Paint -Markers/crayons -Construction paper (and scissors) 1.Start off by making a frame out of your popsicle sticks. Glue the corners together. I went ahead and made a message on construction paper to glue on to the back of the frame. (You will have to cut it to fit the frame. 2.Once that is done, paint your frame. (Have fun with it!) My daughter had so much fun with all the different colors. :) 3.Now once that is finished make a T-shape out of two popsicle sticks. (This is for the stand for the back of the frame.) Glue both sticks together, and glue it to the back of the construction paper. You're all done! Now you have a cute popsicle stick frame, with a message! Enjoy~ ...

Fun learning, and creating with noodles...& flashcard making

Today we had fun creating art with noodles. In the morning I took some food coloring out. Later we added the noodles and food coloring in a plastic bag, and mixed it up for a few. After I removed the noodles from the bag we allowed them to dry. Simple as that! I actually put them out on my back porch so that they could dry a little faster. Once it was completely dry, we had fun creating some simple noodle art on paper! How fun! My daughter loved it.  We also created some ABC funky and fun flashcards It's simple to make- I made some letters, used some crayons, colored each one, and added a few dots around each letter. I then took my laminate sheet, and laid it over the paper. ...

Little hands texture tour :)

Hello all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. This morning I took my daughter to the library. They were having Rhythm Fun, with The Percussion Lady, Helen Trencher. It was so much fun. We played with drums, bells, danced, and listened to a few stories. We had a great time. Our daughter loves going through the house and picking a few items out. We do a texture tour with her. This allows her to feel all the textures, and see the difference between each one. We love this and it's something we have been doing since she was about 3 months or so. She loves it. We explain the different textures, and you can even tell them the different colors, and shapes. All you need for this: -Little hands :) -objects with different textures Have a lovely Tuesday
Our daughter loves nature walks, and it's always a plus running into the geese                                                                                               Sponge Art   At the end of the day I am so thankful for my family
