Indoor Snow Play Activity

Indoor snow play Are you looking for an engaging activity to keep your child occupied? Look no further! This hands-on activity is perfect for both little ones and big kids alike. Today it's cold and snowy outside, making it the perfect day to play in the snow.  This activity was a hit with my daughter - it's fun and a bit messy! Just make sure to clear an area beforehand for this creative play. Here are the materials you'll need to get started: To make your own play snow, you will need the following materials: cornstarch, shaving cream (a cheap bottle will suffice), glitter (optional), felt piece (if you want to build a snowman with a scarf), buttons, beads (light blue and white work well for snowflakes) and Christmas cookie cutters. If you want to add arms to your snowman, you'll also need a tree branch. To make the play snow, mix cornstarch and shaving cream together until you achieve a soft and pliable consistency. You don't need to measure the exact amounts,...

Silly Robot. {Creative craft}

DIY SILLY ROBOT We had a blast making this silly little robot, and I'm sure you will too! Materials needed: -TP roll -foil -beads -craft eyes -paint & paint brushes -pipe cleaners(for arms and hair) -hot glue and you will need a creative little one! =)  Cover tp roll with foil (it's really that simple) Let your little one paint, and be creative when decorating their robot. I helped with gluing; since we were using hot glue. We glued on the arms and hair of our robot using pipe cleaners. And you can place your beads/eyes where ever you want them on your robot. All done! Enjoy your silly robot.

Sail away. Water play with floating boats

Simple, fun, and hands-on play. Today I created these simple boats for floating. For this all you need- -Plastic cup (cut the top portion of the cup off) -Straws -Tape or decorative washi tape It's so easy to put together, and my daughter absolutely loved watching them float. We took a bin and filled it with water. I added one drop of blue food coloring, and there you go sail away and visit a few sea creatures. We had a blast! Enjoy~

Exploring and creating art. Using items around the house

   Exploring/creating art-using items around the house. This was so much fun, and very hands-on. My daughter really enjoyed the different textures and shapes. Materials we used: -Plastic fork  -Paper towel roll  -Flowers  -Clothespins/with pom poms -Plastic bottle top -Straws -Craft stick  Explore and create art using different designs with each material.  During our art time, I went over how each item created a different design. Interactive Reading: The Snowy Day, written by Ezra Jack Keats

Today the book chosen by my two-year-old was The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. When I read her stories we tend to interact whether it's through puppets, drawings, or even painting. (Sometimes even short plays) She seems to really enjoy the interaction. Today we did some interaction using her Magnetic Easel board. If you would like to create your own interactive story here is what you will need. Materials I used for this simple activity were: Craft paper Crayons Pieces of magnetic tape scissors laminate sheet We created the little boy Peter, a snowman, a few buildings with snow packed on the roofs, snowballs, and snow hills.  It was so much fun! My daughter was Peter throughout the story, and she even made him throw a few snowballs. We did some counting, and color identification, and made peter walk up a few snow hills.  Pin For Later

Maraca fun.

I've seen so many creative ways to make maracas, and I thought this one was great! We have two sets of store-bought maracas. I  wanted something my daughter could make, and later have fun with.  My daughter took a few different sharpies and created art on the plastic eggs. Once she was done, we filled them up with macaroni noodles. (Which I forgot to mention as one of the things needed in the picture above)  Below you can view the video we played and danced to. We had a lovely time. Have fun shaking your maracas!!!!! Pin for later

Learning and Playtime.

Outdoor Play Cooking We had so much fun today! We did some outdoor play cooking. For this, we used a few spaghetti noodles, rice, and a few herbs. My daughter enjoyed combining everything and stirring it all up. I used some empty toothpick containers as the salt and pepper shakers. It was so fun and very hands-on. Snakes in the desert. Craft for little ones

Snakes In The Desert I may have been missing Arizona and the desert life when I came up with this craft for my daughter. She seemed to enjoy it and it was a quick craft to do together. Materials needed: TP roll Paper plate Paint/paint brushes Scissors A few rocks Craft eyes Glue I started off by cutting the TP roll. Then using my scissors I wrapped and pulled the TP roll.  This causes it to create a spiral shape and curl. This is what you want to do to create the snake's body. Next, paint each one and allow it to dry. Once it is dry, glue on your craft eyes.  I took a paper plate and cut out the center and we used brown paint to paint it. After allowing that to dry, we then glued on our snakes.  I used some leftover TP rolls and made a cactus for our desert.   Grab a few rocks from outside and set it up so that it looks as though your snakes are in the desert. You're all done! I hope you enjoyed this craft....
