Hello everyone! I hope you're having a great week. Recently, my family and I decided to visit our nearby zoo. We'd gone a few times before the pandemic but hadn't gone for a while. Since the weather was in the upper 60s, we decided to make reservations and visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which is the highest zoo in the country, with an elevation of 6,714 feet above sea level.

We had a lovely time at the zoo. We arrived on a warm and sunny day, but as the day progressed, the wind picked up and it got cooler. This is quite common during this time of year in Colorado. Despite the weather, we continued exploring the zoo and the girls even participated in a learning activity to count towards their school hours. All in all, it was a fun and educational family trip that we all enjoyed.

During our visit to the zoo, we had the opportunity to feed lettuce to the giraffes. It was an exciting experience getting up close and personal with them. Have you ever fed any of the animals at your local zoo? It's truly a wonderful experience engaging with them and seeing them up close.

As we walked through the zoo, the peacocks joined us, adding to the experience. We also enjoyed watching the Rocky Mountain goats standing tall and taking in the beautiful view of the city behind them.
One of the highlights of our visit was watching the Grizzly bears splashing around in the water.
The otters, and hippos also splashed around in the water, and the penguins were spotted just outside of their indoor exhibit. We learned that if the name tags were the same colors they were a bonded pair.

During our visit to the Australia Walkabout, we were surrounded by the Budgie Buddies aviary. We also had a chance to interact with the wallabies that were roaming freely in the area.

  4. Stephanie, I love this zoo visit post! The animal pictures our wonderful! Feeding the Giraffes and seeing so many animals playing in the water sound sgreat. I was glad to learn that the penguins tags - if they are the same color - show that they are a matched pair - do you know if that is always the case with birds in a zoo? I appreciate you sharing that. Also, I loved the scavenger party idea, and the photographing idea - don't you love that digital photos allow us to take a lot of photographs, but that we don't have to pay to develop those pictures (as we did in the past). I also did a zoo post this week, and I think it is very cool that both posts came on the same week! Have a great day - Patty
