It's important to take care of your body when you're feeling under the weather. Here are some tips to help you recover:
- Drink plenty of liquids, such as water, ginger tea, peppermint tea, lemon tea, or infused water/tea. Staying hydrated is essential.
- Boost your immune system by consuming foods that are rich in nutrients. Vitamin C is particularly helpful, so try juicing fruits and vegetables.
- Prepare a warm bath with Epsom salt and soak in it to relieve sore, achy muscles and relax.
- Get some sunshine and fresh air by sitting outside for a few minutes. Breathe in the fresh air and soak up the sun's rays.
- Prepare some soup, such as noodle soup with diced vegetables. Add some broth, carrots, celery, noodles, a can of diced tomatoes, garlic powder, paprika, and a dash of salt.
- Rest your body by allowing yourself to just rest. Close your eyes and rest in bed, on the sofa, or in a hammock. This will help you recover from your cold.
- Listen to your favorite music or podcast to make this time more enjoyable.
- Run an oil diffuser or humidifier to purify and disinfect the air. Use oils like sweet orange, lemon, and tea tree oil. A humidifier can help relieve any sinus issues.
- Wear comfortable clothing, such as soft, loose-fitting fabrics that make you feel comfortable.

These are great tips. I think the most important one here is to listen to your body. Too often, we ingnore what our bodies are telling us.
ReplyDeleteLeesa, thank you! I agree it is always so important to listen to our bodies. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
DeleteI like all of these helpful and useful tips for when being sick and when not. It's so important to take moments for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSarah, thank you! :)

DeleteThere are some really good ideas here for sure, the stand out ones are deffo rest and some soup xx
ReplyDeleteMelanie, thank you! I make a lot of soup in the winter. :)
DeleteThese are wonderful ways to relax. I LOVE my baths!
ReplyDeleteKatie, thank you! I love baths too!- So relaxing :)
DeleteThese are my go-to things to do anytime I don't feel well. My bed becomes a haven.
ReplyDeleteTracy, I agree. This week hasn't been the best for me. I've been making sure to really rest.
DeleteThese are all wonderful ways to help feel better when feeling down. If I'm feeling up to it, I would also add taking a walk in nature as that really does wonders to clear your mind and start feeling good again. Other than that, keeping fluids up and a nice bath are also big hits for me!
ReplyDeleteNicole, thank you! And thank you so much for stopping by. Yes a nature walk is always so nice. Just getting fresh air, and the sunshine. Love that idea!
DeleteGreat advice! I think people overlook the healing power of sunshine, fresh air and time outdoors in nature. The last time that I wasn't feeling too hot, I climbed into the hammock with a cup of tea and relaxed there rather than on my couch or in bed. It still allowed me to lay down and rest, but outdoors. The combination REALLY helped!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Britt! I'm actually shopping for a new hammock now.- The sunshine, and fresh air make a big difference. :)
DeleteAll excellent reminders for when you are not feeling good. And truth be told, also a really good reminder to take a day off and follow this. Just go easy on yourself.
ReplyDeleteLene, thank you! Yes, we all need that reminder to just take it easy sometimes. :)
DeleteAll of these are excellent self care tips! I especially like the one about wearing comfortable clothes - I've done nothing else since this lockdown started!
ReplyDeleteYes it is so important to take care of oneself when feeling ill. It's a good idea to take rest, relax and take the right medications and consume healthy fluid.
ReplyDeleteThese tips are such great advice! I've learned to listen to my body. If it says rest, I rest. If it says I need to drink, I drink more fluids and replenish. It is so easy to ignore our bodies. But they know far better than our minds do about what we actually need. I've found as I get older, my body gets crankier when I don't listen to it. Oh look, you didn't drink enough water? Here's a migraine for you! It's much easier to listen to my body anymore and just give it what it needs. Lol.
ReplyDeletevery simple and very good working I think. Very nice post, I enjoyed reading it and being reminded to be kinder to myself
ReplyDeleteThe Epsom salt baths with a combo of essential oils in the diffuser was what got me through working full time during my 3rd trimester . These are great even just for physical pains and overall self care
ReplyDeleteZoe, thank you! I'm sure that really did help you through your 3rd trimester. Thanks so much for your comment. :)
