Do-It-Yourself Fairy Garden For Kids


This fun do-it-yourself fairy garden is so much fun to create with kids. My oldest daughter created a fairy garden by using her creativity and a few materials. You can create this magical fairy garden too!

You will need:
  • 1 pot. Choose a pot size that fits your needs for your fairy garden.
  • Miniature fairy garden accessories of your choice.- My daughter used a pond, fairy house, mini table, fairy bench, fairy chair, a pot, and a basket
  • Flowers. Depending on whether you want real flowers you would need potting soil. My daughter used faux flowers for her garden. 
  • Styrofoam. -We went with a round piece. 
  • Artificial craft moss 
Note* You can pick up most of these supplies at any craft store.

Optional for your fairy garden:
  • Miniature craft birds
  • Craft butterflies
  • Miniature bird nest
  • Craft gems 
  • Craft rocks
  • lights
  • Water feature.- This would be a great addition to fairy gardens with real flowers. 

Creating your fairy garden:

Start off by placing your styrofoam in your pot to see how it will fit. If you find that your styrofoam does not fit, you'll want to trim off a little around the edge to help make adjustments. After placing your styrofoam into your pot you will want to take your moss and place that over your styrofoam. You may need to cut your moss to fit around your styrofoam.  Make sure that your moss covers it completely.

Next, you'll want to start placing your fairy accessories on the moss. If you find that your flowers are long and would like to shorten them, you can cut them using craft snips. Once you have decided on where you would like your flowers to be placed you can start placing them into the moss and through the styrofoam. Just give it a push and it should go through to the styrofoam.

 All that is left is to place your rocks, gems, birds, butterflies, and any remaining accessories onto your fairy garden display. Now you're all done! Choose an area where you would like to display your beautiful fairy garden, and sit back and enjoy. Happy Reading!
