  2. I love the one about using the failures of this year to guide you in the year to come. That's such a refreshing way at looking at the New Year. So many people just see it as a fresh start and want to leave their failures behind, but they are such a great opportunity to grow and succeed!

  3. Beautiful quotes and reminders. I always turn to this quote by Mark Twain when I am setting goals, reminding myself to go out into the unknown. “20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover” I don't always do this, but the intent is there.

    1. Stella, I absolutely love that quote that you shared with me. I think Mark Twain has some amazing quotes, and when I was putting this post together I actually came across a few of his quotes. I love the end of that quote, Explore, dream. discover. Something we should all be doing!

  7. These quotes really made me stop and think about the upcoming year. It has certainly been a challenging year, to say the least. But I have grown so much too, and growth is impossible without challenges. That is why the quote about letting all the failures of the previous year be the guide for the new year. It reminds me to learn from my mistakes and keep growing.

DIY Tea Tin Planter for Sweet Mint

Today’s tiny DIY win: turning an empty lemon‑ginger tea tin into a planter for a sweet mint plant that needed some love. I cleaned the tin, added drainage, and nestled the mint inside. It instantly brightened up the space — the colors on the tin and the fresh green leaves look so sweet together. I love giving everyday items a second life, especially when they end up this cute. Quick Video Tutorial  I began this little project by cleaning out an empty metal tea container that I had saved. It still held a soft scent of lemon and ginger, and I loved the idea of giving it a second life. Once I washed and dried it, the container felt ready for a new purpose.   Next, I used a finishing nail and a hammer to create a few drainage holes in the bottom of the tin. Since metal containers don’t have natural drainage, this step helps keep the roots healthy and prevents the soil from becoming soggy. Having prepared the container, I carefully removed the sweet mint from its original pot. The ...

Colorful Summer Flower: Recycled Paper Towel DIY

Looking to bring a little sunshine into your space without visiting the craft store? This whimsical summer flower decoration makes great use of what you already have—think beads, pom poms, a humble paper towel tube, and a splash of acrylic paint. Bonus: it’s the perfect way to reuse an old frame and welcome summer in style! What You’ll Need: 1 paper towel tube (emptied, of course!) Acrylic paint (I chose a deeper pink) Craft pom poms (yellow makes a great center!) Assorted beads (medium for the stem, smaller for embellishing the petals) Foam letters (for your summer message) A reused frame (square or any shape of your choice) Scissors Hot glue gun Creating your summer flower decoration Cut the Tube and Shape the Petals :  Start by cutting the paper towel tube into four evenly-sized sections. Each section will serve as a petal. You should be left with four rings. Next, flatten each ring, then gently reshape it to form soft ovals. These will mimic delicate flower...

If you celebrated Mother's Day, I hope it was lovely. How was your week?  Our week was busy.  We had doctor appointments, finals at school, and my husband has been working on a backyard project.  I've included a collage of our week.  My youngest used my phone camera to take pictures of our blooming clematis vines—one is purple, and the other is deep pink.  My husband received a guitar from his boss at work. He now has this one along with his bass guitar.  I've only seen one hummingbird at our feeders. They're so quick; there may be more.  I've been enjoying my time out on the back covered porch. I added a few new outdoor curtains to the space.  My youngest and my husband made me homemade apple bread on...
