Dollar Tree Block Calendar Transformed It Into A Christmas Countdown
Transform a Dollar Tree block calendar into a festive Christmas countdown with this easy and creative DIY makeover. Get inspired to make your holiday decor on a budget.
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted a new craft on this blog. If you haven't already, swing by my craft blog and take a look at all the new Christmas crafts! https://stephcreatesthingsdiyhomeandcrafts.blogspot.com/
Today, I wanted to share a simple calendar transformation. This craft just takes a block calendar. I purchased my calendar from my local Dollar Tree, and it cost $1.25. I had all the other materials on hand. If you're ready, let's transform this calendar into your very own Christmas countdown.
Be sure to check out the video tutorial
Materials needed
One block calendar
Mini garland
Acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Hot glue
Decorative tape
Decorative napkin
Scissors
Optional- Christmas light stickers, black paint
Start by applying your acrylic paint to your calendar. The block calendars at Dollar Tree have little sayings on them, and I did not want that in my design. I gave my calendar around three coats of paint. Be sure to let it dry completely.
Next, take your decorative napkin and remove the second layer of your napkin.
After removing your second layer, take your scissors and begin to cut out the design you will want to use on your calendar. I decided to cut out my letters and use them in my design.
Now you are ready to add your decorative napkin to your calendar. Use your paintbrush and apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto your calendar. Gently take your napkin pieces and add them over your Mod Podge. I always use my blow dryer and dry my napkin over my Mod Podge. Once done, I take a second layer and apply it over my decorative napkin. After, I take my blow dryer and dry it for a second time.
Take your decorative tape and begin to apply it to your calendar decoration. I applied my tape around the roof section of my design.
Next, take your mini garland and use your hot glue to attach your garland around the block section on your calendar. I applied a small amount of hot glue to keep my garland in place.
This is optional, but if you have any Christmas sticker lights, you can add them around the roof section of your design.
I ended up painting the numbers black. The original design had blue numbers, and I didn't think it went with the new design.
If you want, you can take some decorative tape and add it around your block that shows the month.
Your Christmas countdown calendar is complete. I love how simple this was, and I really hope you enjoy it too. Be sure to visit my second blog, where I focus on DIY home projects and simple crafts!

Looking to bring a little sunshine into your space without visiting the craft store? This whimsical summer flower decoration makes great use of what you already have—think beads, pom poms, a humble paper towel tube, and a splash of acrylic paint. Bonus: it’s the perfect way to reuse an old frame and welcome summer in style! What You’ll Need: 1 paper towel tube (emptied, of course!) Acrylic paint (I chose a deeper pink) Craft pom poms (yellow makes a great center!) Assorted beads (medium for the stem, smaller for embellishing the petals) Foam letters (for your summer message) A reused frame (square or any shape of your choice) Scissors Hot glue gun Creating your summer flower decoration Cut the Tube and Shape the Petals : Start by cutting the paper towel tube into four evenly-sized sections. Each section will serve as a petal. You should be left with four rings. Next, flatten each ring, then gently reshape it to form soft ovals. These will mimic delicate flower...

Transform your glass garlic jars into multi-functional pin cushions with storage by following this creative and practical DIY tutorial. You will learn how to repurpose these jars into stylish and useful organization tools for sewing or crafting supplies. Hello everyone! A while ago, I purchased some pin cushions from my local Dollar Tree and stored them away, completely forgetting about them. Today, while cleaning, I came across them and decided to use them with my glass garlic jars. I thought the glass garlic jars would be wonderful for creating multi-functional pin cushion storage jars. Materials Three pin cushions Glass jars (I'm reusing my garlic jars) Mod Podge Paintbrush Acrylic paint Sewing and craft accessories to add to each glass jar Adding Mod Podge and Paint to jars To give my jars a stained glass appearance, I combined my Mod Podge and paint. I used a paintbrush to add a thin layer of the mixture and then used a drying tool to dry the paint. I repeated this process for...
