Simple DIY for fresh flowers

I love simple DIY projects.  After cutting a few flowers from my flowerbed, I decided to put them on display by using an old glass candle jar.  I have done similar projects like this before, and it only takes a minute or two.   Any glass jar will do, but I ended up using an empty glass candle jar.  I  started off by washing out my glass jar. You want to make sure to get rid of all of the candle wax that may still be in your jar. After I took some of my pink and green tapes, cut them, and applied them to my glass jar.  Taking some fresh flowers from my garden, I placed them in my glass jar with some water. Place your fresh flowers in an area where you can enjoy them.  I set them on our kitchen windowsill.  Now I'm able to enjoy the beautiful colors of my summer flowers.  Simple and fun. -Enjoy! Summer days- Exploring water

Outdoor water play/ Exploring with water. My setup may not be the prettiest, but boy, did we have fun. I used tape and taped our watering system to our glass sliding door. If you have a 1-gallon water jug, cut that in half and use that as part of your water system. I put this together using a few play eggs. We made sure to tilt them so that when water is poured into one, it can easily make its way to the next egg. I used a few items from our kitchen. Use the other half of your jug to collect the water, or you can use a bucket. My daughter loved pouring water and watching it make its way down. This is very hands-on, and did I mention fun for the little ones!

Our adventures together

Oh, how lovely it is to spend time with the ones you love. :) Like many other's I'm sad to see the weekend come to an end so quickly. I am happy to say though that our weekend was absolutely wonderful. Friday, my daughter and I enjoyed a play indoor picnic. She brought along her teddy bear, and elephant. We set out some play food, and enjoyed some tunes on the radio. We had carrots, apples, oh and of course cookies! :) We danced a little, and my daughter made sure I was eating by feeding me. (hehe) I love her! Of course after our play picnic, we enjoyed some real apples and some peanut butter., along with some pretzels.       This weekend we enjoyed some time out in the sun. We went to an event at the park, and our daughter enjoyed some time playing soccer with the soccer buddies group. Of course while out we stopped off at Dutch Bros. Coffee (they are just so friendly) I picked up a green tea lemonade. It was perfect for quenching my thirst afte...

Summer reading-Ten Apples up On Top! by Dr. Seuss

We have been reading tons of books lately. Today my daughter chose Ten Apples Up On Top, by Dr. Seuss. After reading, I decided we could make a learning activity. Materials needed: Craft paper Laminate sheet (I chose to laminate everything). You don't have to -Magnetic tape -Crayons -Craft paper -Scissors Draw a  few apples, and color them. Now you can draw your lion, tiger, and dog. I used yellow craft paper and figured I wouldn't color them. After doing this, add your paper with apples and the one with each character to your laminate sheet.  Once you have laminated both sheets of paper, cut everything out. When you're all done with cutting each of them out, using some magnetic tape, cut them into small squares. Apply magnetic tape to each apple and character. We used my daughter's Art easel, which has a magnetic chalkboard. (My husband made it.) Now that you're done, have some fun counting the apples! My daughter ...

Summer fun- Activities for little ones

This week we have been very hands-on with learning, and fun activities! Outdoor water/bubble play  My daughter always has such a fun time playing with water and bubbles.  We took a few items out of the kitchen and experimented with different ways to blow bubbles. We splashed, dumped, and strained the water, it was so much fun.  Yesterday we decorated a rock and made a little Rock pet.  We even made a little bed for it. :) This is a fun activity for little ones. Very hands-on. Materials: Tissue paper Craft eyes Jewels pom pom We did a fun and simple counting activity. All you need for this activity is counters, paper, markers, and a few colors We made some cute paper bracelets.  My daughter decorated them with stickers, jewels, and washi tape and colored them. I just punched out a hole and added some yarn.

Our trip down to the Library.

This morning we headed out to the library. During the summer our library has special events and crafts for the kids to do. Today they were having -Discovering African Folktales with Denise Gard, and her dog (Border Collie) Sienna. The kids participated as she told stories and her dog Sienna did tricks. The kids loved it. My daughter absolutely loved the dog. Denise made her dog do tricks, jumping through hoops, and shaking hands. What a wonderful morning with my little sweet one.
