Snow days and Mochi ice cream recipe.

"Snow was falling, so much like stars filling the dark trees that one could easily imagine its reason for being was nothing more than prettiness.”  ―  Mary Oliver Today the sun is finally out. It's been out the last few days, but it has been staying hidden behind the clouds. Today we are so fortunate to see the sun shining so brightly and beautifully. We had a few days of snow—quite a bit of snow! During our snowy days, we enjoyed warm drinks, snuggle time, books, board games, and Mochi ice cream . It's ice cream wrapped in sweet flour dough. It's delicious and so easy to prepare. Ingredients 1/2 cup of Mochiko sweet rice flour (You can find this flour in most Asian markets). 3/4 cup of water 1/4 cup of sugar Corn Starch Ice cream (Any ice cream will work. I used strawberry flavor ice cream). Optional: Food coloring. This is actually added to the flour mix. It makes it fun! I used a little bit of red food coloring. Cupcake lin...

Warm Citrus tea.

I love this wonderful recipe that is packed with vitamin C. It's beneficial when you're battling a cold or just need an extra boost of vitamin C. The recipe for this hot Citrus tea is from the wonderful Honeysuckle, and it brought back wonderful memories.  Although in Korea they use the Yuja fruit, which my Korean mother never made into tea, the recipe I found uses 2 lemons and 1 orange. After washing the fruit, I sliced it thinly, including the rinds. I then added 2 inches of ground ginger root, a tablespoon of turmeric, and a cup of raw honey, and mixed all the ingredients together in a bowl. The wonderful aroma of these ingredients together was just amazing.  I then stored the mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for one month. The next morning, I placed a portion of the mixture into a cup of boiling water, and the wonderful flavors fused together.  This wonderful citrus tea is not only enjoyable, but it is also rich in vitamin C, ...

Colorful Coffee Filter Heart wreaths.- Simple craft post

Who says Coffee filters are just for packing coffee grinds in... This simple, colorful, and fun craft is great for all. “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” — Albert Einstein Materials needed: -Coffee filters -Round plastic lid (I actually used a plastic lid for the back of our wreath). You can also use cardboard.  -Scissors -Paper (this will be used for creating your hearts). -Tape -Paint (we used watercolor paint). Start off with gathering your coffee filters.  You'll want to tape off the bottom of each coffee filter. Doing this will actually give it some shape.  Next, apply paint to each coffee filter. I found that using watercolor paint made it easier to apply paint on each filter. Next, take each filter and tape it to your round plastic/cardboard piece.  If you are wanting hearts on your wreath, you'll want to take some paper and create hearts. Paint them, and also you can add some glitter.- This is...

Sweet little hearts garland.- A simple craft post.

We love art in our home.  Creating art and displaying art. This simple craft project is fun for all ages. Materials needed: -paper -watercolor paints -water -scissors -tape -heart shape cut out (I actually used a cookie cutter to trace my heart). - sewing needle -thread (I used two colors). First, start off with your paper and watercolor.  Create your art. I used a variety of colors. I wanted soft colors. So I went with light purple, pink, and a lighter blue.   Remember to have fun with it.- You can make stripes, dots, and much more.  Once you are finished, allow some time for your art to completely dry before moving on to the next step. Next, you'll want to grab your heart shape cut out, or a heart-shaped cookie cutter. You can also use a heart stencil for this project. I had a heart-shaped cookie cutter, and figured that would do the job!  Trace a few hearts over your watercolor art, and...
