December.

Ah, so here we are.
It's been a bit chilly.
Our Christmas decor is up and it didn't take very long.
I've been feeling a bit festive and cheerful lately.
This year, we started a new tradition. Each night leading up to Christmas, we'll unwrap a book to read together by the tree. - All books are either Christmas or winter themes. - It's amazing what you can find on the web. I came across this idea some time back and figured we would give it a try. More time reading to our girls is definitely a plus!

We're still attending events and have our normal routine going.
We recently attended an event called, Cookies and Carols. It took place at one of the libraries here in town. We decorated cookies, sipped on hot cider, and then went around caroling. - It was so much fun!
This month is packed with fun, festive events.
We'll be attending a candlelit hike at one of our local nature centers.
Our oldest is extremely excited about this. I think it has to do with the hot cocoa they will be serving. Or it might just be the fact that we'll be out hiking through a candlelight path.
I'm really enjoying my morning coffee these days.- But I must admit, I'd love to stay in bed for just a few hours longer.- That doesn't happen much!
We're all bundling up and right now my favorite winter clothing is my thick winter socks. - I love them! I'm always being told that I have really cold hands and feet.

Nights definitely seem shorter. I've been using my slow cooker more often. It really comes in handy during our busy weekends. I've started writing in both of my girl's journals again. I took a month or so off from it. - It was nice getting back into it. I have so much to write about.

For now...
life is simple. Days seem shorter and nights are colder. We're all here. -Living and enjoying. Just being in the moment.

How are all of you doing? Are you feeling festive and cheerful these days? How's life in general? I'd love to hear!

  2. Sounds like you have an amazing month ahead of you. That candlelit hike sounds so lovely! We're not really into the festivities yet. This year went by so fast that it doesn't even feel like December yet. But who knows, maybe once we have the Christmas tree set up! :)

    1. Aw, thank you Tessa. - Indeed, I think once you have your Christmas tree set up things will really start to feel like it is all coming together. And yes, where has the time gone?! Boy, it's so true, it goes by so fast. :)
