Home.- A few April things.

I hope these days are treating you all well.  We're all doing well. At home, we are finding simple tasks that keep us occupied, and just really appreciate the time that we can spend together as we remain in good health.
Our state still has the Stay at home order in place.
This month we celebrated our oldest daughter's birthday.  She turned nine and is still very much full of energy.  We celebrated at home, Just the four of us. A baked cake, a few presents, and game playing. It was simple but filled with so much love.
I've started my seedlings. I planted some peas, carrots, peppers, asparagus, oregano, onion, shallots, and parsley.
I also went out and purchased some grow lights so that they can stay indoors while the weather has been a bit on the cooler side.  I also went out and purchased a few plants. Tomato, chives, romaine lettuce, and strawberries. I've noticed that gardening has helped take my mind off of everything that has been going on.
My husband has started building me a raised garden bed.  I'm not sure if any of my container plants will go in there this year. But I am sure the garden bed will come in handy next year. I'll have to wait and see.  Do you have a garden or a raised garden bed? This will be my first time having a raised garden bed. If you have any tips you'd like to share, I'd love to hear them.

Most days are warmer., while the nights are cooler. We've had a few cloudy, snowy, and rainy days.  Our neighborhood is filled with new people taking daily walks when the sun is shining, and the weather is warmer.  For the most part, everyone is practicing social distancing.

My flowers are blooming. A few of my perennials have started blooming, and it is nice to see the bees buzzing around.
These are a few of my April things. How's this month going for you?
I'd love to know how you are all doing. Do you garden? Do you have a hobby you enjoy?
I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

  1. This pandemic has been one of the most exhausting periods in my life. I've never done so much yard work in such a short period of time. It has afforded us the chance to spend extra time with my girls and get a jump on spring and summer.

  3. I love the look of that cupcake, yum. And those tiny little seedlings are so lovely, it reminds me of the 'kitchen herb garden' I started growing at the beginning of the lockdown.
I live in a flat in London, so have been trying to make the best of it and tending to my indoor plants. Luckily, our local parks and nature trails are still open, so I can go for a walk once a day. Hope you and your family are well.

  6. I laughed at the snow picture after the beautiful plants and flowers. It's so typical for our place the last few days. We had snow three out of the last six days and tomorrow should be in the 60s. I am dying for warm weather and sunshine.

  10. The weather has been gorgeous here most days. I was talking to my husband about that yesterday. Like, why couldn't the plague have been going around in January? Staying at home would be easy then! I've just been trying to make the best of it and stay sane. Thankfully I can work from home, and my husband is still working as well, without any real change in his routine.

    1. Erica, I agree! If this plague happened in January it would have been easier to stay in the house. The weather has warmed up, and we are just feeling so thankful. I am happy to hear that you are able to work from home, and that your husband is able to as well. :)

  11. It looks like you have got a good start going on your gardening! It's funny, most people are getting ahead with all the extra time and I'm actually further behind this year than I have been in a long time lol! We have a raised garden bed as well as container gardening around the yard. The biggest advice I have is to take into consideration how deep your garden is - I wound up with some super twisty carrots the first year when they ran out of space in soil that they could work through!
Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter!

    1. Britt, thank you! Yes my husband is still actually working on the garden. We will start filling it up soon. I love container gardening as well. I started my carrots in a larger pot, that is pretty deep to give them some room. I think I will keep them in there. Thank you for the birthday shout out for our daughter. We appreciate it very much. :)

Succulent Centerpiece using Dollar Tree Items

Looking to add some greenery to your space?  Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to create a quick and simple succulent display using a round baking pan from Dollar Tree. I completed this craft a while ago, but forgot to share it with you. It's an easy project, and all the materials—except for the spray paint—were purchased at Dollar Tree. I used a heating tool to speed up the drying process, but if you prefer, you can let it air dry, which m...
