DIY Fall Decor: Upcycled Honey Bear Bottle Floral Display

🐻🍂  Fall is the perfect season to transform everyday items into cozy, creative décor, and this upcycled honey bear container is no exception! With a little paint, some faux florals, and a dash of imagination, I turned a humble plastic honey bear into a charming autumn floral display. So, as you squeeze out that last bit of honey into your cup of tea, don’t throw your honey bear away! If you’d like to create one too, I would love for you to join me.

Video tutorial

🌻 Materials You'll Need

1 empty Honey Bear container (washed and dried)
Acrylic paint (I used brown, dark green, bronze, and a few floral colors)
Spray paint (optional alternative to acrylic)
Small and medium paintbrushes
Faux flowers (fall-themed colors work best!)
Heating tool (for quicker drying)
Sandpaper (optional)
Primer for plastic (optional)

Prepare Your Bear

Begin by gently sanding the surface of the plastic container. This will help the paint adhere better. Alternatively, you can apply a plastic-friendly primer before applying the paint. I decided not to sand the surface before applying my paint.

Using acrylic paint or spray paint, apply your first coat to the entire bear, except for the center area. I chose a warm brown tone for a rustic, fall feel. Use a heating tool on low to thoroughly dry the paint between coats. Repeat this process until you achieve full coverage.

Adding the Center Accent

Keep the center of the bear clear during your base coat. Once the rest of the bear was dry, I painted the center with a dark green shade. This served as the backdrop for my floral artwork. Before adding the flowers, if your bear’s eyes are faded, as mine were, a tiny dab of black acrylic paint will bring them back to life. This small detail can make a significant difference!

Adding Painted Flowers and Bronze Highlight

Using a small brush, paint simple flower petals, stems, and leaves onto the green center. I used warm tones to reflect the season.

To frame the floral area, add a touch of bronze paint around the outer edge. This adds a subtle shimmer and enhances the design.

Adding Faux Florals

Cut your faux flowers to fit the bear's opening. Arrange them as you desire. I enjoy using a variety of colors in my fall displays, so for this project, I chose lighter and darker pink.

🍁 Final Touch

Place your honey bear display on a shelf, windowsill, or table to display this in the fall season. It’s a sweet way to reuse something that might otherwise be tossed—and it brings a smile every time you see it.

This project is a fantastic example of how crafting can be environmentally friendly, and honestly, it's adorable! Please let me know if you decide to give your honey bear container a fresh look. Thank you for joining me, and I'll see you soon!
