At Peace.- 5 Activities for stress relief

Here are five effective ways to relieve stress:

1. Start an indoor garden:

Try cultivating different types of succulent plants as they are relatively easy to care for. You can also grow herbs indoors in pots and place them on your windowsill. Exposing them to sunlight, watering them, and observing their growth can promote inner peace and reduce stress.

2. Explore an adult coloring book:

Coloring can be an excellent way to relax. Find a cozy and quiet spot, and spend 15-20 minutes coloring a page from your book.

3. Discover a new podcast:

Find a podcast that interests you and listen to it while enjoying your morning coffee/tea. It can be a wonderful way to start your day feeling refreshed.

4. Take a breathing session:

Guided breathing sessions are available on smartwatches/fitness trackers, but you can also do them on your own. Find a serene spot, calming music, and maybe even a guided meditation video. Take a few minutes and be mindful of your surroundings, and allow yourself to feel at peace.

5. Get moving:

Get up and start moving! Whether you stretch or go for a walk, simple movements or heart-pumping exercises will definitely boost your mood and relieve stress.

Remember to reconnect with things that make you happy and bring you joy. If there is something that used to make you happy but you haven't done it in a while, try it out again. Seek to find deeper meaning and significance rather than living on the surface.

Please share in the comments below what activities you do to relieve stress.

  1. My biggest stress relief is exercise and I actually combine the podcast aspect during my workout. I enjoy music a ton but for some reason I enjoy listening to podcasts when I’m working out. One of my good friends gave me an adult coloring book and it has provided hours of enjoyment and relaxation. Anything where I can see a finished outcome seems to relax me. Breathing and meditation are also something I’ve begun to work into my day the past year especially being stuck inside so much.

  4. Some much needed advice, especially this year! I recently started growing succulents and looking at them makes them happy! Coloring books are something I'm really thinking about picking up. Every time I'm in a bookstore I'm tempted to buy one, maybe the next time I really should get it!

  5. I have really discovered the joy of podcasts this year. That wasn't something that I really gave a second thought to before 2020, but now I find that I have them playing all the time - doing mindless work related to my blog, folding laundry, grooming the pets or just sitting around and listening to the latest info from my favourite podcasters.

  6. I love, love coloring books and I feel so guilty when I take time for them.(people who don't do them don't understand how relaxing they can be) But since my 10 year old son loves them too, I combine it as our together time. I do want to plan some meditations sessions - that never gets done!!!

    1. Stella, coloring books are so relaxing! And you're right people who don't do them don't understand how relaxing they are. Aw, I love that you take that time to color with your 10 year old son. My oldest daughter who is 9 loves coloring with me. My 6 year old also enjoys it too. It is so relaxing, and it is always great spending that time with them.

  7. I have been wanting a plant for my office. I recently found the most adorable Baby Yoda planter for succulents, and I think it would be the perfect addition to my office. Now I'm more convinced that I need to pick it up! I'll have to give the adult coloring book thing a try. It's never been something I've considered, but it is certainly worth a try.
