Turn Old Cardboard into Fun Halloween Bookmarks

Happy October! Today, we're making easy Halloween bookmarks using cardboard for this DIY craft. This is an upcycled craft and it's super easy. This craft is perfect if you have some cardboard and haven't thrown it out or recycled it. It's also a great hands-on craft for little ones, just make sure to help cut and glue any materials needed. If you're ready, let's start creating some Halloween bookmarks.

Fun Halloween Bookmarks

Materials:

- Cardboard

- Paper trimmer or scissors

- Halloween decorative napkins

- Optional: gem strip with sticky backing and letters

- Gems

- Mod Podge

- Craft string

- Beads

- Acrylic paint

- Hole puncher

Start by taking the cardboard and using either a paper trimmer or scissors to cut two sections of the cardboard, each between 1 to 2 inches wide. After cutting two strips of cardboard, use the trimmer to cut down the middle of each one, so you end up with four sections in total.

Apply paint to the cardboard pieces. I used acrylic paint for each one.

First, cut out the decorations you want to use from a decorative napkin, such as ghosts, a black cat, and pumpkins. Make sure to remove the second layer of the napkin.

Next, use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge to the bookmark and then add your designs over the Mod Podge.

If you'd like, you can use gem strips on your bookmarks. These have a sticky backing. Simply cut out the gem strips and add them to the bookmarks.

You can also add a few craft gems for extra decoration.

Use a hole puncher to create holes at the top of each bookmark. After creating the holes, thread craft string and beads through each bookmark.

Your bookmarks are complete! This is a great way to reuse cardboard or other paper materials you may have around your home when you're not sure what to do with them.
