Our Visit to the Gingersnap Rescue Ranch

Hi everyone! I can't believe how quickly September went by! The year is moving by so quickly. Today I am sharing our visit to a local animal rescue. We had to postpone this trip until now because we had a few other events during our youngest daughter's birthday. Afterward, she came down with a cold, and we had to take things easy as she recovered.

Our trip to Gingersnap Rescue Ranch was just as we pictured. Our youngest daughter has a love for animals that I can't explain. She absolutely adores all animals; if she could save them all, she would.

We decided to head out to the rescue and take a scenic route. During the drive, we saw sheep, a few fall colors, and a stretch of cacti on the side of the road. We paused to capture a heartwarming painting on a building: a mother cow tenderly kissing her calf. How sweet!

Once we reached our destination, we paid for our entry and received four feeding cups for the animals. The first two animals we encountered were a mini horse and a donkey named Chia. Chia was a sweetheart, and she followed us as we fed a few of the other animals. We saw emus, goats, bunnies, roosters, pigs, horses, Llamas, and a cow named Nelly.

We were told that Nelly's hips were broken due to her being attacked by dogs. We were also told that Nelly enjoys cuddles, and we showed her some extra love. I was relieved to hear that her injuries did not cause her pain.

Chia, the donkey, was rescued at a much bigger size than pictured. They have her on a diet, but we were told she still follows the guests and wants all the food she can get.

The pigs were busy taking mud baths and snoozing in the shade.
The goats wanted all the attention, and you couldn't just feed one without the others wanting attention.

They offered to let our youngest hold a baby goat. She was a little nervous, but once they showed her how she loved it. It was a great experience for her.

We visited with the horses. They were so gentle, and you could tell they were excited to see visitors. They galloped over to us and enjoyed a little snack.

We had such a nice time at the rescue. The highlight of the trip was Chia following us along the way as we fed the animals. She stayed by our side.

It was such a nice experience and we're hoping to visit again.

Have you been to an animal rescue? I'd love to hear about your experiences.
