If you enjoy reusing materials, adding personal touches, and crafting décor that feels warm and whimsical, you'll find this project a delight to create.

Quick video tutorial coming soon!

 Supplies You’ll Need

Most of these are common craft‑stash items, which makes this project even better.

  • Wooden Dollar Tree crate (or any small wooden box)
  • Acrylic paint in white and pink
  • Medium and small paintbrushes
  • Craft popsicle sticks
  • Two mini wooden houses
  • Floral stickers
  • One wooden heart
  • Twine or jute
  • Floral foam blocks
  • Hot glue
  • Assorted faux flowers in soft pinks, white, and green
  • Craft knife (for trimming foam)

Step 1: Give Your Crate a Fresh Coat of Color

Start by painting your wooden crate. Mine was previously painted black for a different project, so it was ready for a makeover. Using a medium-sized paintbrush, mix white and pink acrylic paint until you achieve a soft, romantic shade that you love.

Apply two coats for a smooth, even finish, allowing each layer to dry completely. This will instantly transform the crate into something light, sweet, and perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Step 2: Paint and Decorate the Wooden Heart

Using a smaller brush, paint the wooden heart with a mixture of pink and white or choose a coordinating shade. Once the paint is dry, place a floral sticker in the center. This small detail adds charm and ties the entire arrangement together.

Step 3: Create Your Mini House Accents

Paint your two mini wooden houses in colors that complement your crate. Once the paint is dry, decorate them with floral stickers. To make sure they stand tall inside the arrangement, use hot glue to attach each house to a craft popsicle stick. These will serve as charming little “garden stakes” that peek out from the flowers later on.

Step 4: Add Jute for a Cozy, Rustic Touch

Begin by wrapping twine or jute around the top edge of your crate. Use hot glue to secure it as you work, taking care to protect your fingers from the heat.

This decorative addition brings texture and warmth, creating a perfect balance with the soft florals.

Once the jute is securely in place, glue your decorated wooden heart to the front center of the crate. This heart will serve as the sweetest focal point.

Optional Step: Add Mini Wood Dowels for Extra Charm

To enhance your crate, consider adding four mini wood dowels to the bottom corners. Use hot glue to attach one dowel to each corner on the underside of the box. This provides your floral display with a charming, lifted appearance, resembling tiny legs on a farmhouse-style planter. I believe this small detail adds a significant amount of personality.

Step 5: Prepare the Inside of the Crate

Place the floral foam blocks inside the crate. If they don't fit perfectly, use a craft knife to trim them. I cut mine into two sections so they fit snugly. A tight fit helps keep your flowers secure and upright.

Step 6: Arrange Your Flowers

Now for the fun part — adding your faux florals. Use a mix of soft pinks, whites, and greens for a look that feels both romantic and fresh.
Insert each stem into the foam, adjusting heights and angles until the arrangement feels full and balanced. Don’t be afraid to play around with placement; this is where your creativity shines.

Once the flowers are in place, add your mini wooden houses by inserting the popsicle‑stick bases into the foam. They look like tiny cottages nestled in a blooming garden.

This project turned out beautifully — a sweet blend of Valentine’s charm and springtime freshness. It’s the kind of décor piece that makes you smile every time you walk past it.

Whether you place it on a shelf, entryway table, or kitchen counter, it brings a soft, handmade touch to your home.

DIY Holiday Decor: How to Make a Wintery Faux Foliage Bowl

Create a stunning DIY holiday decor with this step-by-step guide on making a wintery foliage bowl. Learn how to craft a beautiful centerpiece that brings the essence of winter into your home. Hi there, I hope everything is going well for you. Today, I want to share with you a simple upcycling holiday craft idea. The three main materials you will need for this craft are a bowl, a cork, and some wintery foliage. I used a cork lid from a salt bottle that I had kept, and a pink bowl I had bought a few months ago for just 50 cents. You can easily put this project together in less than 15 minutes, and it looks absolutely beautiful once it's displayed. So, if you're ready, let's start creating! Here's what you'll need One bowl (any size works, I am using a smaller bowl for my design) Wintery faux foliage Cork (I am reusing a cork from a salt bottle) Hot glue Floral cutters (to cut foliage to size) Pinecones (optional) Attaching the cork to the bowl To begin, turn your bowl...

Delicious Fall Recipe: Roasting Pumpkin Seeds

🎃 Delicious Fall Recipe: Roasting Pumpkin Seeds If you're anything like me, your favorite season is Autumn, and I get excited when making fall snacks and new recipes. My family loves it when I roast pumpkin seeds for a quick and easy snack. Roasting pumpkin seeds is one of those simple pleasures that turns seasonal scraps into a crunchy, crave-worthy snack. Here's my step-by-step method—with measurements—to help you make the perfect batch. Step 1: Scoop Out the Seeds Begin by carefully using a sharp kitchen knife to slice off the top portion of your pumpkin, making your cut around the stem to create a wide enough opening for easy access to the interior.  Once the top is removed, reach inside the pumpkin to extract the seeds. You can do this with your bare hands, but I prefer wearing a latex glove to keep things clean and comfortable—though this step is entirely optional.  Alternatively, you can use tools like an ice cream scooper, a sturdy fork, or a specialized pumpkin seed...
