Dollar Tree Peel‑and‑Stick Wallpaper Box Makeover

I transformed a simple, everyday box into a beautiful and functional storage piece for my belongings. This makeover is both easy and budget-friendly, using affordable supplies from Dollar Tree along with some creative touches to enhance the box's appearance. With a few simple steps, you can create an attractive decorative storage box that can be styled in any room of your home.

Whether you're looking to organize small items on your desk or add a pop of color to your living space, this project is versatile and practical. Materials

  • Peel‑and‑stick wallpaper (Dollar Tree)

  • Gold acrylic paint

  • Decorative edge scissors

  • Adhesive gems

  • Paintbrush

  • Optional: greenery or small accessories for styling

  • One sturdy box. Just make sure the box is not flimsy or collapsible

How I Transformed the Box

Instead of measuring each side, I simply lined the box up with the peel‑and‑stick wallpaper, traced around it, and cut out the sections. This method keeps things easy and relaxed — perfect for quick crafting sessions. I used my decorative edge scissors to cut out two sections for the front and back of the box.

Once the wallpaper pieces were ready, I applied them to the box, smoothing out any bubbles as I went. The decorative edge scissors added a soft, scalloped detail along the top, giving the box a sweet, finished look.

Adding acrylic paint to the box

To elevate the design, I painted the top rim for the front and back of the box with gold acrylic paint. The gold trim adds warmth and a little shine, tying everything together beautifully. I also added gold paint around a few of the leaves on the design.

For a touch of sparkle, I added adhesive gems around the leaf design. They catch the light just enough to make the box feel special without overwhelming the design.

Final Thoughts

This project demonstrates that you don’t need exact measurements or costly materials to create something beautiful. With just a bit of wallpaper, some paint, and a few decorative gems, you can transform a simple box into an attractive piece that you’ll enjoy using and displaying. If you love quick and budget-friendly DIY projects, this makeover is a fantastic one to try. I added a few of my perfume bottles and hair clips inside the box, and it makes for perfect storage.

  5. This is a cute idea. Question- what kind of box did you use in this project. I would image it had to been a more sturdy box. Not like the gift boxes you can get at Christimas time for shirts, etc.

    1. It was a sturdier box, yes. I can't recall that exact box. Definitely not one of those collapsible gift boxes. You could easily use one; for example, a cardboard box from Amazon would work perfectly fine as well. Any box for the most part, just not one that is flimsy. Hope that helps. 😊

  6. A clever solution to corral those things you want — or need — to keep in sight and available.

  7. This is such a cute idea. I have a lidded cardboard box that I bought in 1976 at a Raley's store that I have been constantly since then using as a makeup box. It is probably time to redo the outside of it. Although, I don't know. It is almost an antique. LOL

    1. Wow, 1976! That is absolutely amazing! A box with that much history and love is a total treasure. I completely agree—it’s definitely earned its antique status! If you do decide to give it a little creative refresh, I would love to hear how it turns out. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing such a sweet story with me! 😊🤗

If you love finding new DIY ideas and learning from other bloggers, you’re in the perfect spot! Hi everyone! How was your week? This week, we were blessed with more rain, and I am so thankful. It's been a hot summer with wildfires and droughts, so it's nice to have a few days to cool down a bit. Below, I've shared two photos that I posted on my Instagram story. The first one shows one of our lovely hummingbirds relaxing on the swing near the feeder. I love watching them from our dining room window. In the second photo, we had another visitor at the feeder, and the sunlight shining through the window that evening was absolutely beautiful. I'd say this week was a nice one. DIY Floral Wooden Jack‑O’‑Lanterns (Easy Fall Decor)

I’ve been having so much fun creating fall projects this year. These floral wooden jack‑o’‑lanterns  started as simple wooden pumpkins, but with a few pretty transfers and some soft paint colors, they turned into the sweetest little fall accents. I love how the florals give them a cozy, cottage‑style feel while still keeping that classic jack‑o’‑lantern charm. They’re quick to make, easy to customize, and such a cute way to add a warm autumn touch to your home.
