Little Cardboard houses Materials needed: -Empty cereal box -Scissors -Hot glue gun -paint This was a fun craft to do with my little one. I figured we could use our old cereal boxes. So I came up with making little houses to go along with her little car set.  I also made us a yummy treat. Raspberry almond shortbread cookies , they are delicious!  Made these to go along with our tea party later today. =) Here's where I got my recipe:  http://parentpretty.com “Bake with love..”  ―  Manuela Kjeilen

Float, sink or absorb?

Will it float, sink, or absorb water? Observation activity This was a great learning/observation activity to do with my little one. I asked questions like, "why do you think the rock sank to the bottom, but the sponge was able to float". I went over the different shapes, and sizes of each object. Also pointing out which ones were lighter, and heavier. I also asked which one she thought would float, sink, or absorb when placed in the water. We went over this a few times, and soon she was able to tell me what would happen when they were placed in the water. Our observations- Rock -when added to the water, they sank to the bottom. Silk flower  absorbed some water but still managed to float above water. Cotton balls immediately  absorbed water, and sank to the bottom. The paper towel absorbed  some water and floated the first time. The second time put into water it sank to the bottom. Jewel , along with buttons all sank to the bo...

Our weekend {Sweet November}

"A sun-drenched sky on a windy autumn day; out across open fields passing clouds make shadow play. Silent beauty in multi-hues but ominous in a sense; for though today be delightful darkness soon gains precedence. -   Ray,  Psychology of Seasons Hello November, so nice to have you here... Hello sun -You're so beautiful on our evening walks. Colors of fall-Make me feel so cheerful. Golden leaves have taken over this path-so pretty much! A little playground fun-A lovely evening to play out in the autumn sun. Beautiful Colorado mountains. Lunch time-Fajita pizza, prepared by my wonderful husband. Zebra cake, with Mocha frosting...(You read right, Zebra cake. It's a premium cake mix, and it should come out looking like Zebra stripes. Our week. So long October, hello November

  “Sometimes the little things in life mean the most.”   ―  Ellen Hopkins ,  Glass { Evenings seem so peaceful } {A trail of magnetic letters has been scattered throughout our home} {mints for sweet tooth kind of days} {Chocolate chip pudding cookies} {Coffee/banana smoothie} {Play time} {Coloring} It's been a wonderful month. We spent this month baking, painting, coloring, learning, preparing for colder weather, and enjoying each other's company. This week my daughter and I enjoyed reading a few Halloween books, along with coloring a few coloring sheets. We did some fun learning activities and enjoyed a few tunes on Pandora's toddler station.- Of course, we danced around, and sang out loud!  This week I had the pleasure of trying out a few new recipes. One recipe that I really enjoyed was the blended Coffee/banana smoothie from  cookincanuck . I loved the combination of the nutmeg, and cinnamon whe...

Weekend love {❤}

Baked apple cinnamon chips, sweet kisses, and cool gentle breezes-Oh, how I love weekends. This weekend I made some delicious baked apple cinnamon chips. And may I add, our home smelled absolutely lovely! We enjoyed this sweet, healthy snack as the autumn sunset.  (Recipe below) Baked apple chips Lately, I've been doing a lot of baking. I've been flipping through a few cookbooks, hoping to find a recipe that stands out. We have used our cookbooks quite a bit in the past. This weekend I made us a delicious dish -Grilled kielbasa with pesto sauce and noodles.    ( how-to-simplify-Grilled Kielbasa and pesto penne ) This weekend, the weather was beautiful. The temp stayed in the mid-'60s, with a light cool breeze. I've started gathering gloves, sweaters, and even winter hats just to have them ready for when the cold weather decides to stick around. I've started preparing our home for winter weather. Tucking away summer blankets and...

Morning.

Mornings normally feel so hectic. At times I feel like I'm rushing to get things done.  This morning was peaceful and quite relaxing. Yesterday evening I made us some delicious pumpkin scones. I was thrilled to find a new recipe. This morning when every thing was calm, my daughter and I enjoyed our scones. I was at peace, sitting there giggling and watching my daughter enjoy her sweet pumpkin scones. We had the singer-songwriter station playing in the background. I took this opportunity to catch up on writing in her journal. If you're wondering, I started a journal for my daughter once we brought her home from the hospital back in 2011. It's filled with memories, stories, inspiring messages, and more! Just something she can look back on later on when she's older.   Even though mornings seem so hectic at times, mornings like this make me realize just how thankful I am to spend it with my love ones. What a beautiful morning.   Peaceful morning wi...
